For the 2019-20 school year, KIPP Corazón Academy will accept application forms during the interest period for students entering TK through 6th grade in the 2019-20 school year.  Should we receive more application forms than spaces available for a grade level, the school will host a lottery.

As of February 16, 2019, the lottery interest period will close. Any applications submitted after this date and time will be added to the waitlist.

KIPP Corazón Academy will be fully grown at TK through 8th grade (2021-22) and is accepting application forms for TK through 6th grades for the 2019-20 school year.

Mario is the founding co-school leader of KIPP Corazon Academy.  KIPP Corazon is adding one grade level each year and will eventually grow to be a kindergarten through eighth grade school. Prior to founding KIPP Corazon, Mario was dean at KIPP Academy of Innovation in East Los Angeles. Mario began teaching at KIPP LA in 2011 at KIPP Raíces Academy as a founding third grade teacher. In 2014, he transitioned to KIPP Academy of Innovation to be a founding ELA teacher. Before KIPP LA, Mario began teaching in Los Angeles as a teacher at a parochial school in the Pico Union area.  Mario received his M.Ed. in School Administration from Loyola Marymount University, and majored in Psychology at the University of San Francisco with a minor in Latin American Studies. Mario is humbled by the opportunity to continue ensuring that our communities have access to a high quality education to impact future generations.

Colleen is thrilled to be have opened KIPP Corazón Academy in Southeast Los Angeles in the fall of 2017. Prior to the Fisher Fellowship, Colleen was a Dean at KIPP Comienza Community Prep in Southeast Los Angeles. Prior to becoming a dean, Colleen began teaching at KIPP Comienza in 2012, teaching Kindergarten and also serving as a founding teacher for second and fourth grades. Colleen received her M.S. Ed. in Urban Education at the University of Pennsylvania, and she double majored in Government and Psychology at the College of William and Mary. Outside of school, Colleen enjoys spending time with friends and family, running, reading, and exploring the scenery and sites of southern California. Colleen is excited to continue working to prove the possible with students and families in Southeast Los Angeles as she continues her work with KIPP Corazón in the coming years!
